Be Zero’s Top 3 Zero Waste Must Haves for 2016

We can all do our part in making less trash. I created this short list of some of my favorite products that will help you do just that! Each of these products I personally use everyday and would recommend to anyone.

Remember, the core of making less trash is simplicity. Take time to clear out items that you don’t use or plastic items that are deteriorating by donating them, selling, or responsibly recycling them. Consuming less and owning less means life is just a little less overwhelming.

And now I present to you...

Be Zero’s Top 3 Zero Waste Must Haves for 2016

This is one of my favorite products. Abeego is a natural and reusable way to keep food fresh longer. Made from pure beeswax, jojoba oil, and tree resin infused into a fabric made of hemp and certified organic cotton. Each Abeego sheet is reusable and compostable! I have been using these since 2008 and are an absolute everyday essential when it comes to storing food. I can wrap everything from snacks, bread, leftovers, and half used fruits and veggies. No kitchen should be without these!

Here in Boulder we have curbside composting. So every other week I get to wheel out all our food scraps to the corner to be taken to our cities local center for industrial composting (learn more about it here). The Compokeeper has made storing our household food scraps a BREEZE. With its pedal-powered lid, easy to clean design, and storage for up to 6 gallons, there is nothing not to like about this compost holder. I also love how it seals the inner bag when you close it, which keeps fruit flies and smells out of your home. Check out this video to see it in action. Whether you have curbside composting or compost in your backyard, the Compokeeper is a convenient and trustworthy kitchen or office tool for your compost collecting needs.

2016 is the year to put the plastic toothbrush to bed. Over 4.7 billion plastic toothbrushes are produced every year worldwide. Where do you think those plastic toothbrushes are going when you’re done with them? Many find their way into the ocean, while the rest get buried forever in a landfill. Talk about wasted resources. I switched over to bamboo handled toothbrushes a few years ago and I’ll never go back to plastic handled toothbrushes again. Brush with Bamboo is the world’s first plant-based toothbrush. Every component of their product is plant-based: bristles, handle, wrapper, and box. This year make the switch. Learn about Brush with Bamboo and get your own here.
