Be Zero Team

Our team members are valuable and important volunteers within our organization. Their support allows us to share our mission within our local and global community.

Andrea Sanders | Executive Director & Founder of Be Zero

Andrea Sanders lives in Boulder, Colorado and is the director and founder of Be Zero. Andrea’s background in environmental conservation spans over 20 years, with its start as a member of the Marine Mammal Care Team at Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium, where she assisted with sick, injured, and stranded marine mammals and taught education programs to the aquarium vistors. From there she went on to the Central Florida Zoological Park & Botanical Gardens. Here, she was a Lead Zoo Educator and Educational Animal Assistant Keeper. During her time there, she developed and shared education and conservation programs for grades K-12 and facilitated the Zoo’s Green Team, which created conservation educational projects for staff and public. Andrea also worked briefly at the Denver Zoological Park. There she hosted guest interactions through animal education and conservation discussions. Highlighting animal care, stories, and vital conservation programs specifically in the Toyota Elephant Passage. Last summer, Andrea was invited to speak at Tedx Aruba's September 2016 event. At Tedx, she shared her take on the question, “What if we all made less trash?” with an audience of 500 individuals and broadcasted live to the Dutch Embassies. |

My name is Chanelle Crosby and I am here to serve on the Board of Be Zero.

I've followed Andrea closely for the last year by diving head first into a zero waste lifestyle of my own, and it has been life-changing!

Nikita Anderson | Creative Outreach Director

I'm a Boulder transplant originally from Tallahassee, Florida. I'm a local artist, activist, environmentalist, and the Creative Outreach Director for Be Zero. That means I'll be working with creative methods for handling waste (trash art workshops, for example), and working within the community to encourage a wide spectrum of people from all backgrounds to make the shift toward zero waste!

Jess Drawhorn | Development Director

Jess is here to help Be Zero grow. As an environmentalist, animal advocate and National Park enthusiast, she’s excited to work towards a future with less waste.

Diana Peake | Communications Director

Diana lives in Austin, TX with her husband and two dogs. They're currently adapting different zero waste habits into their own home. Diana is our in-house editor and is taking over our Be Zero quarterly newsletter and Twitter!

Kate Weiner | Director of Special Events

Kate Weiner is the Founder and Creative Director of Loam, an environmental arts organization that publishes a biannual magazine, coordinates artist-activist workshops, and hosts farm-to-table suppers.
